Six Intercity Buses Impounded at Pasar Rebo Shadow Terminal

Joint officers took action against six intercity and interprovincial (AKAP) buses found parked at the Pasar Rebo Flyover intersection in East Jakarta. The buses were suspected of soliciting passengers at a location often used as a shadow terminal (unofficial bus stop).

We will intensify raids on illegal terminals

Head of East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency, Harlem Simanjuntak said the controlling was held to create orderliness ahead of Eid al fitr.

He added that raids on illegal terminals will continue to be intensified to ensure order and provide a sense of security for travelers using public transportation.

Legislators Applaud Jakarta Residents' Free Homecoming Program

"We will intensify raids on illegal terminals ahead of the Eid homecoming flow," he said, Tuesday (3/10).

He explained that the existence of shadow terminals often gives rise to various problems, ranging from potential traffic jams to concerns about the operational feasibility of the fleet used to transport passengers.

Meanwhile, Sub-agency's Head Section of Operational, Emiral August Dwinanto stated the operation carried out in the Lintas Jaya activity involved around 40 joint personnel.

"Five fleets were ticketed for picking up and dropping off passengers at the location. Meanwhile, one fleet was forced to cease operations for not having a route permit," he stated.

He hopes that this action will have a deterrent effect on bus drivers and operators so that they no longer use shadow terminals as places to pick up passengers.

"We want people to feel safe and comfortable when using public transportation," he admitted.
